About the Summer Pops Concert
- What is it?
- The Summer Pops Concert is an annual event that involves current and past members of the CHS Orchestra. Crookston is one of the few districts in the area with an orchestra, and I think that should be celebrated! We have some awesome and talented students and alumni and I want to be able to bring everyone together and make some music!
- It is open to Orchestra members old and new! The CHS Pop Strings will be playing, as well as some other current members of the high school orchestra, but alumni are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to participate!
- When is it?
- There will be an orchestra "boot camp" the week of June 5th from 5pm-7pm. If you need to brush up on your violin playing or note reading skills, this is the perfect time!
- The Concert date is Saturday, June 10th 3:00pm.
- Where is it?
- Practices will be held inside the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra room.
- The Concert will be held outside in front of the high school.
- I haven't played/read music in years, will I be able to play the music?
- It certainly helps if you can read music, but I have written out simpler parts for all of the pieces we'll be playing in case you're not confident in your playing ability.
- Music will be sent out via email a month before the concert, so you'll have lots of time to practice and take a look and see what you are capable of playing. Hard copies will also be available the week of Orchestra Boot Camp.
- This event is meant to be pretty low-key. If you need to drop out for a song or two because it is above your ability, it's not a problem.
- Does this event cost money?
- I am asking that each member participating pay $5.00. This will help cover the cost of t-shirts.
Any other questions, please feel free to contact me! I hope you consider participating!
