Belinda Fjeld, Director of Choirs

Belinda Fjeld is in her 40th year of teaching in the Crookston Public School District with this being her eighteenth year of directing the 7th-12th grade choirs. She earned her Masters Degree from the University of St. Thomas in Curriculum and Instruction, and her Bachelors Degree from Concordia College with a major in Music and a minor in Business Education. She is a member of MMEA, MEA, NAfME, ACDA and the VoiceCare Network.
Mrs. Fjeld directs the Concert Choir, Pop Choir, JH Choir, and also teaches Kindergarten and 1st Grade Music at Washington Elementary.

Matt Torgerson, Director of Bands

The 2017-18 school year is Matt Torgerson’s first year of teaching in the Crookston Public Schools and fifth overall. Mr. Torgerson grew up in Clinton, MN and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music (piano performance). He also attended the University of North Dakota where he earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Mr. Torgerson is currently continuing his own eduaction at Minnesota State University Moorhead, working towards and Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. He is a member of MBDA, NAfME, and ASCD.
Mr. Torgerson directs the Concert Band, 7/8th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, and 5th Grade Band as well as Marching Band and Pep Band.

Haley Ellis, Director of Orchestras

Haley Ellis comes from Livonia, Michigan. Ms. Ellis graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. Before coming to Crookston, Ms. Ellis has taken on the positions as Interim Band and Orchestra Director at various schools in the Metro-Detroit area.
Since coming to Minnesota, she has been a performing member in the All-City Community Band, the University of North Dakota Community Orchestra, a clarinet quartet, and UND German and Klezmer Ensembles.
Ms. Ellis is a member of MMEA, NAfME, and ASTA.
Ms. Ellis is very excited to be working in Crookston, and in her spare time, enjoys all things Disney and Harry Potter.
